Cornerstone Cottage School started from a conversation between 4 moms who wanted more time with their children than traditional schooling allowed but didn’t feel called to homeschool full time. In 2016, we started with one class of 12 students meeting together 2 days a week, simply to see what it would be like. Seven years later, we have 9 classes with over 90 students attending 3 days a week.
We are able to be with our children 2 days during a school week with guidance from teacher-planned lesson plans, but we also have the freedom to explore and learn on our own. On the other 3 days, our children experience the structure of a classroom, experience a teacher-student relationship, and develop friendships with peers.
We incorporate the benefits of being at school like field trips, school parties, school pictures, programs, and other activities. We take advantage of our uniqueness by not giving report cards or grades in the traditional sense. We want to meet children where they are and not have them feel “behind” or “ahead” because of a number.
We are a Christian school with Bible lessons 2 days of the week at school and freedom to go deeper at home.
